IDEA
We
are a non-profit collective of cultural practitioners whose focus is the
inner city of Johannesburg. Our main focus lies in contributing to the
creative urban environment, by setting up collaborations, exchanges and
platforms from which to engage the complex layers and potentials of this
African metropolis we call home. |
|
THE
PEOPLE
The
Joubert Park Project consists of an active core group and a team of trustees.
Both parties have shaped the current profile, vision and programme. As
a collective we bring to the table artists, arts administrators, curators,
community activists and cultural managers. It is our different backgrounds
and expertise that fuel our working processes and ideas. |

THE
PROCESS
The
JPP started in 2000 with a series of workshops in the inner city that
led to a three-month extensive line up of public art events. The organisation
developed through research and collaborations that aimed to contribute
to the generative cultural dynamics of inner city Johannesburg and its
people. In 2004 we moved to the Drill Hall, an extraordinary space to
hone our interest in artistic and social agency, building on experiences
and partnerships established so far. |
